At Preston Hollow United Methodist we are committed to children and hope that they learn to feel comfortable in church. We hope they grow up to know church as a place that is safe, a place where they are loved, and a place where all are welcome. We want children to feel at home here. Our Child Development Center is a place where kids from infants to an afterschool elementary class can learn, play, and grow together. The Child Development Center meets the needs of working parents that want their kids to be surrounded by love even when the parents have to work. The CDC is open from 7:30AM to 6PM Monday through Friday and can be contacted @ (214)369-4630, Ask for Rhonda. Family Movie Night is another way we welcome children. The third Friday night of each month at 6PM our Children’s Ministry hosts Family Movie Night in our Fellowship Hall. We invite parents to bring the kids, bring a blanket, and/or bring some food, anything they need to enjoy a night together as a family. We find that children really enjoy spending time with both their friends and their families. Parents enjoy the company of other parents. This is our way of helping everyone in the family have a little more fun together. Children’s Mission Morning Children’s Mission Morning is a Quarterly Mission activity for Children between 4years old and 6th grade. In Our First event this year we learned about flooding in Brazil and assembled 50 UMCOR Health Kits to be sent as relief to those affected and learned a Children’s Song from Brazil – The Next Childrens Mission Morning will be in May and our focus will be “Imagine No Malaria” more details to come. Sunday School The New Sunday School Program for Families is FaithWeaver There is a youth class, a parents class, an elementary class, and a preschool class. Each level of the family will learn the same story so that families are growing not only closer to God but closer to each other through being able to better discuss what each other learned in church. Each Sunday morning at our worship service we have a special children’s basket with coloring materials and a children’s bulletin as well as “Pockets” for the older children with word puzzles and cool bible stories to help keep their attention. During each service there is a special Children’s Message where we try and take the main theme from that week’s scripture and present it in a way that is easier to understand. The Children’s message does not take place on communion Sundays (the first Sunday of each month) however the children are welcome and encouraged to come forward for communion. |
