At Preston Hollow United Methodist we are committed to Children and hope that they learn to feel comfortable in church. We hope they grow up to know church as a place that is safe, a place where they are loved, and a place where all are welcome no matter what. We want children to feel at home here. We try to accomplish this in several ways. Our Child Development Center is a place where kids anywhere from infants to an afterschool elementary class can learn, play, and grow together. The Child Development Center meets the needs of working parents that want their kids to be surrounded by Love even when the parents have to work. The CDC is open from 7:30AM to 6PM Monday through Friday and can be contacted @ (214)369-4630, Ask for Charlotte or Rhonda. Family Movie Night is another way we welcome children. The third Friday Night of Each Month at 6PM our children’s Ministry hosts Family Movie Night in our Fellowship Hall. We invite parents to bring the kids, bring a blanket, and/or bring some food, anything they need to enjoy a night together as a family. We find that Children really enjoy when they get to spend time with both their friends and their families, as well as parents enjoy the company of other parents, and this is our way of helping everyone in the family have a little more fun. Sunday School is an important part in teaching kids more about God and the bible. Our Children’s Sunday school lesson typically includes a bible story, an activity or craft, and a memory verse and has different elements so that each child is met at their own level whither they have been in church for years or its their first visit. Sunday School meets at 9AM in the first room on the west hallway and is taught by Lynn Brollier. Each Sunday morning worship service we have a special children’s basket with coloring materials and a children’s bulletin as well as “Pockets” for the older children with word puzzles and cool bible stories to help keep their attention. During each service there is a special Children’s Message where we try and take the main theme from that week’s scripture and present it in a way that is easier to understand. The Children’s message does not take place on communion Sundays (the first Sunday of each month) however the children are welcome and encouraged to come forward for communion. |
